Recently she was named Designer of the Year by the IDI (Irish Design Institute),Finalist in prestigious Persil Design Awards 2013 and previous winner of the Triumph Inspiration Award (TIA) 2011. Sarah Ryan’s primary interests lie in the marriage of the extraordinary & the functional, using adverse textiles and materials to create an informed & intriguing silhouette. Sarah Ryan is a startup label of upscale unique and masterly statement pieces for ageless womenswear.
The Sarah Ryan woman is striking, classic with an edge for risk and a penchant for rare high quality garments. The label has previously shown pieces at Berlin Fashion Week & Graduate Fashion Week London, been shot by Ellen Van Unwerth, Alex Hutchinson and Patrick McHugh, & enjoyed press coverage from various outlets including Vogue Germany, Grazia, The Times, Life Magazine, Tatler & Fashionising amongst many others.
In London at the start of the 1980s, three new style magazines emerged to define an era. It was a time of change: post punk before the digital age and at the dawn of a hedonistic club scene that saw the birth of the New Romantics. On the pages of BLITZ, The Face and i-D, a new breed of young iconoclasts hoped to inspire revolution.
